Greater Milwaukee Association of Phi Beta Kappa records, 1956-1990.

Description: The Association united with Phi Beta Kappa members in the Milwaukee area in order to promote scholarship, fellowship, and community welfare. The records consist primarily of the Secretary's Records which include the annual reports to the national Phi Beta Kappa Society, meting minutes, meeting notices, correspondence, treasurer's reports, and publicity for programs. Some records of Milwaukee Phi Beta Kappa Foundation, Inc., which the association founded to collect and administer scholarship funds, are also included. The collection contains records on the UWM Chapter documenting the charter application process including the extensive general report about UWM that was submitted to the national Phi Beta Kappa Society as a part of the application, the the charter installation in 1974, the president's correspondence (1973-1982), secretary's records which include correspondence, meeting minutes, and publicity (1973-1982), and the annual visiting scholar program (1974-1989).
